about

During a vulnerable time, HuDost offers a powerful message with their neo-folk retro-pop art-rock song, ‘Our Words Will Be Louder'. All of the proceeds from the new HuDost song will benefit The Poor People’s Campaign. The song was written by HuDost with Dan Haseltine (from Jars of Clay) and Christie Lenee and addresses how inadequate and sheltered we can feel until we give our voices to a larger purpose.

HuDost was recently honored with the Independent Music Award for their song “Rise Together” in the “Social Action” category. They are passionate about activism and advocacy and have been congressional district representatives in KY for almost 6 years for ONE (one.org - a non-profit advocacy organization working to end extreme poverty globally).

This song reflects that passion and includes cameos from several artist/musician/activists including Jars of Clay, Kevin Clash (Elmo), Kevin Hearn (from the Barenaked Ladies), Cy Curnin (from The FIXX), GangstaGrass, Alana Bridgewater (from We Will Rock You), Jai Uttal, The Accidentals, Hymn for Her, Nawal, and more.

The release is being supported and aired by The U2 Conference, The Woody Guthrie Center and Museum, American Awakenings, and more.

lyrics

This is the color of the day
I’m tired of seeing from a sheltered place
Who am I to speak?
I’ve never known your song, so I’ll turn the other cheek

The world, is aflame
the makers and the martyrs burn to grey
Your words, are ablaze
Signs being struck by bullets
Raised to say ‘I cannot breathe’

These are the words I can say
Use my voice if you wish, but I’ve never known my place
Hands up, do not shoot.
No justice, no peace, No luxury, no loot.

The world, is aflame
the victims and the bullies burn to grey
My words, are ablaze
Signs being struck by bullets raised to say

‘I cannot breathe’ oh oh oh oh

This is the color of the day
Raise it up like a flag whose honor we will weigh
Our words, are ablaze
Signs being shot by cameras work to say

Our words, our words will be louder
Above and beyond the armor
Our words, our words will have power
Above and beyond the armor
Our words, our words will ring louder than their guns

I’m gonna breathe oh oh oh oh
Yes, we will breathe oh oh oh oh
We’re gonna breathe oh oh oh oh
(Our words, our words will be louder, Above the armor)
We’re gonna breathe oh oh oh oh
(Our words, our words will be louder, Above the armor)
